 Two routes are available after driving out of East London along the North East Expressway or from Johannesburg and the north on the N6. The most direct route is to take the N2 as for Umtata and Transkei, turning right after about 25 km at the sign Chintsa Mouth.
Proceed along this (Schafli loop road), past the left turn to Tainton until you come to the signs left for Chintsa East, Cefani Mouth, Xanadu, Michaela's Restaurant etc. This tarred road will take you to a low bridge and thereafter 4 km of new tarred road to the village. From East London it takes between 30 and 45 minutes depending on speed and traffic.
The alternative route is by the East Coast Resorts' Road, onto the lower end of Schafli Road until the signs for Chintsa East where the turn is to the right.
